I Need To Stay Awake... by Izar I Need To Stay Awake... by Izar
... for another six hours. :-)

I'm sure that many many of you know how it feels when you have been putting off writing an essay for weeks (and you're lucky if it's just one essay) and you suddenly find yourself facing the deadline, having about twelve hours to write something acceptable, and being a perfectionist, 'acceptable' means 'immaculate' for you. Well, I surely know the feeling, having experienced it very recently, when I had to put together three portfolios in three days for teacher training. I managed, but it meant that I had about seven hours of sleep during those three days, and boy, was I extatic when I finally handed the last one in... :D Anyway, I'm not very proud of myself for being such a huge procrastinator either.

The two patterns I used here were made by ~masterjinn and you can find them here.

Enjoy, and tell me what you think! :-)

This picture is my life. Do you want proof? It's 3AM and I have two essays due tomorrow. Whoops.

I really like it. The lamplight and the pillows make me think of "Tea" by Wallace Stevens.

Ah, hi there!

Obviously I don't hang out here much nowadays, or I would have thanked you for your lovely (and funny!) comment immediately.

Well, better late than never, so thank you! :D
Hah, even though I'm not a students anymore I still find myself awake in the middle of the night sometimes, mostly working on lesson plans or looking up some ridiculous business-English phrase. Guess I still know the feeling...

So how did your essays turn out? Are you having a chance to relax during the holiday season?

I hope you had a great Christmas!

I wouldn't be able to work with a sky like this at my window... it's really well done

Thank you so much for your comments!
Well, the room in the picture is somewhat fictious: my window is much bigger than that and has nice trees in front of it, so I don't really need to worry about the skyline disracting me from my work, which would be the case if it was anything like the one in the pic. :D

Thank you! (And I guess I need to thank my hairdresser too next time I visit her. :D) It was the first time I used textures, but it was fun.

Must have taken a ridiculous amount of hours and several "sittings", but I was pretty happy with the result. I just wish I had more free time and patience to do this kind of detailed work more often: I learn so much in the process and it really pays off. :-)
I've been looking at the work of some fantastic beaders and jewellers, and though it's usually me, who gets comments regarding patience, this time it was me who had to pick her jaw up from the... floor? No, more like the cellar. :D
Thanks for the comment!

I love this pic. Actually, I was wondering if I could put it on a page of my website for my college web portfolio, specifically on my page about courses. I will link directly to you of course with credit given, but I wanted to ask because it would be perfect.

Thank you.

Thanks so much! It won't be updated onto the page quite yet, but in the program itself I have it linked and say underneath the picture as well by Izar @ DeviantArt. I will send you the link when it is done just so you can keep track of your wonderful art. Thanks again.

May I compare essays with homeworks and presentations? Because we get loads of them and sometimes I'm just too lazy and find myself lying in the bed reading something I should have learned on saturday :D .

I think the picture is beautiful, it looks clean and the lightning and shading was just done perfectly. Because of the patterns for gimp: I think this was stock, maybe you could ask in the stock forum if someone knows them :) .

 Sure, they're just as bad: lots of hard work and preparation is needed for both.
Oh yeah, I used to do that in high school too: it was so much fun! Not... :D Actually, I sometimes learned things during breaks before classes and I usually managed to get the best mark still, but it was a lot of stress, so it's not something I advise you to do. :-)

I'll do that, and thanks! :-)

You don't have to advise it to me, that's exactly the way I learn in general for tests for biology or history. I don't learn them at home and it's stress, but I always get good marks :D .

It's better if you're not, you get much less stress that way. And hey, 'perfection' does't exist anyway, or so I was told. I'm still reluctant to believe it though... :D

I love sleeping when I have the time to do it (okay, even when I don't :-)), so it was a pretty big effort from my part. :D

OMG, cookies are really taking over the world!!! Well, my world at least: I got tons of cookies from you, and Mum's baking cinnamon-clove-chocolate cookies too. Yummy!!!
*dumps tons of tasty cookies on you*

I know that feeling all to well. And let me tell you that essays about swedish kings at midnight is a slightly trixy subject. ^^

Congrats on the pulling through of things though!

It has one advantage though: when I decide to finally sit down and write, my brain goes into overdrive and spits out these brilliant ideas that I wouldn't have thought of if I weren't forced to be creative and work hard. Not to mention that no one disturbs me during the night: I love that. :D

Thanks for the comment! :-)
